PERIOD. is a global youth-fueled non-profit dedicated to eradicating period poverty and stigma through advocacy, education, and service. Founded in 2014 by two high school students, the organization distributes millions of menstrual products annually, develops menstrual health curriculum to combat stigma, and empowers young leaders to advocate for menstrual equity policies, including the repeal of the tampon tax and mandating period product access in public spaces. They also created Period Action Day in 2020 to acknowledge the global impact of the menstrual movement.
Theory of Change
Through advocacy, they empower youth leaders to drive systemic change by drafting and implementing policies that eliminate the tampon tax and ensure access to menstrual products in public spaces, while also training them in media and advocacy skills.
Their education efforts focus on developing comprehensive, open-sourced curriculum and conducting research to combat period stigma and misinformation, believing that fact-based education is crucial for shifting cultural perceptions.
Finally, their service arm directly addresses immediate needs by distributing millions of period products to communities, ensuring access even where laws are not yet in place, and supporting individuals who may not be able to store large supplies of products.
